LUMIBIRD, the European leader for laser technologies, has signed an agreement with
the Swedish company Saab to acquire its defense laser rangefinder business. This
acquisition will contribute to consolidating the Lumibird Group’s position on the
European defense market.

LUMIBIRD, the European leader for laser technologies, finalized its acquisition of Ellex’s laser and ultrasound activities on June 30. Through this acquisition, the Group has doubled the size of its Medical division, with revenues of around €80m, while creating a world leader for laser and ultrasound technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases.

HALO Photonics was founded in 2005 in the UK and was the first company to introduce the first autonomous all-sky scanning pulsed Doppler LiDAR.
The applications that HALO Photonics products can serve are, wind profiling and pollution transport for meteorology, wind power, aircraft wake vortex detection for airport weather observation systems (AWOS), urban climate modelling, boundary layer transport, cloud characterisation, turbulence, mixed layer height, wildfire tracking, volcanic ash tracking and potentially other applications areas.
Under the ownership of the Lumibird group since December 2019, HALO Photonics will be further both in terms of a new and updated product portfolio, increased capacity, increased and simplified service offerings and focused customised products for the wind energy, defence and aviation markets.
LUMIBIRD, the European leader for laser technologies, has signed an agreement with the Australian company Ellex Medical Laser Limited to acquire Ellex’s laser and ultrasoud business for 100 million Australian dollars (approximatively €62m).

Lumibird and Mer Agitée, Michel Desjoyeaux’s company, are delighted to announce their partnership for the Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro 2019.
Double Vendée Globe champion and the most medalled singlehanded sailor, Michel Desjoyeaux is making a comeback on a circuit he specialised in for many years. Triple winner of the “Solitaire” in 1992, 1998 and 2007, he’ll take the start of the race for the 13th time in his career. His last participation dates back to 2013 when he secured 7th place. It is the arrival of the new one-design Figaro Bénéteau 3, which convinced Michel Desjoyeaux to return to one of his first loves. The skipper of Lumibird has planned to participate in two pre-season races, the Solo Maitre Coq and the Solo Concarneau, before making for Nantes and the start of the Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro, scheduled for 2 June.
